If you have a laptop, setup should be easy: Just open it and press the power button. If the battery isn’t charged, you’ll need to plug in the AC adapter. You can continue using the laptop while it charges.

Initial setup and updates
Physical setup: Place the laptop on a flat, stable surface with good ventilation and lighting. Plug in the power adapter, as you may need to keep the laptop plugged in during the initial setup.
    1. Power on: Press the power button to turn on the laptop.
    2. Follow the setup guide: Select your region and keyboard layout. You’ll then be prompted to connect to a Wi-Fi network. You can choose to “Continue with limited setup” if you prefer to create a local account instead of a Microsoft account, or skip the network connection to continue offline.
      • Tip: To bypass the Microsoft account requirement, you may be able to press Shift + F10 at the login screen, open the command prompt, and type a command like oobe\bypassnro to create a local account.
  • Connect to the internet: Once you have access to the desktop, connect to your Wi-Fi network if you haven’t already.
  • Update Windows: Go to the Windows Update settings and download and install any available updates, especially critical security patches.
  • Review privacy settings: Go through the privacy settings in Windows and adjust them according to your preferences.
Customization and cleanup
Uninstall bloatware: Remove any pre-installed applications (bloatware) that you don’t plan to use by right-clicking them in the Start Menu or checking the “Apps & features” section in Settings.
  1. Customize the taskbar: Right-click the taskbar to change settings like hiding the search bar or disabling notifications.
  2. Manage startup apps: Open Task Manager and disable applications you don’t need to start automatically with Windows to improve boot time and performance.
  3. Adjust display settings: Right-click the desktop and go to Display settings to ensure your screen resolution and refresh rate are set to the highest possible values for your display. 
Optional steps
1.Update BIOS/UEFI: Check the manufacturer’s website or pre-installed utility for any BIOS or UEFI updates. It is important to keep the laptop plugged in during this process.
2.Back up your data: If you are replacing an old computer, back up any important files from your old machine and securely wipe its hard drive before recycling or donating it.
